Summary
Since the advent of many-core CPUs, research in the field of operating system is again a pressing topic. In this project new approaches to cope with the rising com-plexity of many-core systems will be investigated and realized. The participants will gain new insights in the design of major current operating systems and improve their skill in system programming.
Topics
The project approaches system programming with a focus on scheduling while con-sidering non-functional targets such as modularization, energy-awareness and others. Prototypes will be implemented for existing operating systems.
Learning outcomes
- Successful teamwork
- Self-organization (roles, mile stones, interfaces, …)
- Insight into current research
